NVCT is your local, nonprofit land trust that protects and preserves the natural areas that define our Northern Virginia communities. From forests and streams to battlefields and cultural sites, our region’s lands and waters are more precious than ever before in the face of a changing climate and growing pressure to develop.
Founded in 1994, we have restored and protected more than 8,000 acres of clean water sources, key wildlife habitat, and historic places in one of the fastest growing regions in the country. We’ve done this by working collaboratively with local governments, private landowners, and other valued partners to improve the quality of life for all residents.
Looking ahead to 2021 and beyond, it is more important than ever to continue protecting the places we need and love. The use of our parks and open spaces is at an all-time high as people search for much needed relief from the stresses and confinement brought on by the pandemic. Northern Virginians are relying heavily on the natural world around us as our lives have all been upended.
That is why it is so critical to continue safeguarding this priceless resource. Together, we will continue to protect the lands, waters and scenic beauty of Northern Virginia that contribute to balanced livable communities and improve our everyday lives.
